UK Tourism
Awards 2005 |

The award was presented to Tom
Hart Dyke at the Savoy Hotel in Strand, London on 13th November, 2005. "It was
quite amazing", said Tom, "We never expected to win but we're over the
moon and once I realised the garden had won I just couldn't believe it.
The recognition is such a boost for me & I'm delighted that the World
Garden is officially recognized as a horticulturally endowed tourism
project"
The competition
attracted a lot of entries from every part of the UK. The emphasis
for the judges was to decide which entrant most reflected their
criteria of sustainable tourism in the local community and with
the World Garden's ambitious layout of a giant world map using
natural rock and plants from all round the world, it was a
sure-fire contender from the start.

"It's a fantastic achievement",
said Adam, (above) designer of the innovative scheme. "It's a mark of
how one of our designs can be taken from the planning stage through to
completion and make a dream come true.
Working with Tom and
his jungle idea was enormous fun. The project is unique and it was an
interesting experience having the BBC film every part of the design process
– it’s great to take someone’s dream and make it a design reality..."
"Tom is developing something very special
here at Lullingstone Castle", said Adam. "It's been a very challenging project
but one which he is confident will enthral anyone with a love of plants.
The garden has attracted a lot of interest from all areas of the media and
this award shows that Tom's dream has really made its mark on the Kentish
landscape."
The garden is now open to the
public on certain days but you can view the latest pictures by using the

to Lullingstone Castle".
